FAQ
Below are some common questions that get asked. If you have further questions please visit the contact page and submit your question or you can go online and book a consultation. We look forward to working with you!
Am I ready for my annual touch up?
This is for returning clients only! You have completed your first session and your initial touch-up session. No matter the PMU service you get, it should be faded about 50% before your annual touchup. Faded pmu allows for crisp fresh results at your next visit. If you are unsure if you are ready for a touch up, you are more than welcome to send photo to info@jessicasbeautybar.org.
How do I make an appointment?
You can check availability right online by clicking the Book Now button on the contact page. To make it easy download the Vagaro app and create an account. You will be able to look at dates and times that are open as well as change your appointment if necessary. A credit card will be asked to have on file to hold your appointment. If you are in need of additional assistance please email info@jessicasbeautybar.org
Can I see you if I have had permanent makeup elsewhere?
If you have had previous permanent makeup elsewhere, you will need to submit photos prior to booking so that the treatment area can be assessed before being accepted as a client. Submit photos to info@jessicasbeautybar.org
Will I need a touch up after my initial appointment?
Most clients require 2 sessions to perfect their new permanent makeup. Touch up appointments can be made 6-10 weeks after the first visit right online through Vagaro. Most of the time I will schedule this with you at the end of your first visit but you can pre-book the touch up appointment as well!
Do you use clean needles?
Every client has a new sterile single use needle or cartridge. You can observe the needles and cartridges being taken out of a sterile pre-packed casing. On completion of the treatment, the needles are placed into a sharps container and then disposed correctly.

Is permanent makeup painful?
Everyone has a different level of pain tolerance but most clients are completely comfortable and relaxed during the appointment. You may feel slight discomfort but the results will far outweigh this. You may take tylenol prior to the appointment but not aspirin. A highly effective numbing agent is applied before and during the treatment to keep you feeling as comfortable as possible. Some clients even nap through their service!
Can I get permanent makeup while pregnant?
Permanent makeup is not safe for women who are pregnant or nursing.
How long does it last?
Clients skin type plays the biggest role in longevity and the general outcome of the procedure. Oily skin types may heal with a softer more powdery brow finish while drier skin types may heal more crisp and defined. Darker pigments tend to last longer. Proper UVA/UVB protection will prevent color from fading as quickly during summer climates.
How long is the appointment?
On average appointments are booked on a 1-2 hour basis, allowing for thorough consultation and treatment. Tattooing time varies for each treatment.
What can I expect during my appointment?
Depending on the treatment, we will map out the area using makeup or mapping string to create ideal symmetry. The correct blade/needle size will be picked based on clients skin type as well as correct color choice for each skin tone. We can also test color choice against your skin so you can see it prior to procedure. A numbing solution is applied before and during procedure to ensure the appointment is as comfortable as possible for the client. The 1-2 hour appointment is extremely interactive to help keep clients nerves at rest.
What can I expect after my appointment?
Most clients leave the appointment with no redness. The numbing solution used during the appointment helps to control any swelling or redness which means you can continue your day with no funny looks or questions. Clients even come on their lunch breaks and return to work directly after their appointment. Your results will vary depending on skin type, lifestyle and the immediate and long-term aftercare of your new tattoo.
